Hotel Bem Estar

Nice.

Just average.

The stairs had no lighting, and lights kept flickering in both the room and the corridors. There was nobody at reception, and the rooms weren't cleaned during our stay. The room was full of cockroaches, the bathroom smelled rotten, the sinks leaked, and the toilet was clogged. The microwave and fridge didn't work either. There was also a foul-smelling sewage box along the entrance corridor. A horrible experience. I'm going to report this place to the health authorities. Stay away!

The location was pleasant and quiet, with plenty of bars nearby. On Sundays there's a market close by with great pastéis, and you can walk around to explore the neighborhood and a bit of São Paulo. The room was a good size, comfortable and clean, though the bedding in my room was dirty and stained. Check-in was confusing, and they charged a different price from the one in the Decolar email. Other than those issues, I'd consider staying again and seeing whether my rating improves.
