SJ Business - San Juan São Paulo

The kitchen team and reception staff were friendly, and they were about the only good thing about the hotel. I paid for three nights but left after the first. It may meet the requirements for a four-star rating, but honestly I've stayed in better two-star places. The room furniture felt cheap and dated, like something from a housing project. The curtains had coffee-colored stains, wouldn't close properly, and the surfaces were dusty. Staff didn't speak a word of English, which might not matter as much for locals. The area felt unsafe and there wasn't much to see nearby. I took a private one-on-one city tour, and the guide had never had a client from this hotel. He even suggested I move out. I couldn't find anyone nearby making coffee to go.

Getting around from here is really convenient, but the location feels a bit questionable for safety. Being right by Praça da República seems to draw a lot of homeless people.

For a budget stay in the city center, this is a good choice with decent facilities. The area can feel dangerous after dark, though, so I’d take a taxi when coming and going from the hotel.

The restaurant was amazing, and the staff were great. It’s also very clean and close to Praça da República. I’d definitely recommend it.
