SLAVIERO Downtown São Paulo

The food was awful, really below standard. The chef seemed to have no idea what he was doing, and the waiter forgot half the order. I had to keep reminding her about what was missing, and she took her time. I only ate because I was starving. The room was very dirty, and the sheets were stained. The shower barely had hot water. At 9:00, someone came into the room to wake me and ask whether I was staying or extending.

When I came back a week later, I arrived before check-in and asked if I could use the gym while I waited. The staff said they'd check, then talked among themselves and left me standing there for half an hour. When I followed up, they said it was closed. I mentioned that it had been open early during my previous stay, and one staff member said I could go in, but another stopped him and said I still couldn't. It was frustrating. They could at least communicate clearly. We used translation apps, so the language gap shouldn't have caused this. Management should train staff in customer service. The two guys working the morning of Dec 7 were named Gabriels. The shorter Gabriel was especially rude. My first stay had problems too. The room lost power for the whole night after a trip, though the AC still worked. There were no working outlets or lights, and staff couldn't fix it. In the morning, the lock failed. When I reported it, they told us to leave the door open until someone could come later, since nobody could fix it at 8am. At least one staff member was kind and accommodating.

The front desk staff were welcoming, though only they spoke English. Breakfast had a nice range of cakes and other very sweet treats, but there wasn't any other food available. Downstairs, there's an honesty shop open around the clock with essentials, snacks, and beer. The rooftop gym is poorly equipped, and the pool could be cleaner, though it wasn't disgusting. The hotel sits under a flight path, which was a real shame.

The rooms are spacious, and the beds and pillows are fine. The staff were very nice and helpful, even though they don't speak English. Breakfast was average. It's downtown, which might be fine in another city, but in SP the neighborhood felt more like a ghetto than a city center. It's a decent hotel, though I wouldn't call it four-star.
