Wyndham Garden Sao Paulo Convention Nortel

I had a great time :) The bed was comfortable, and breakfast was really good. The pool is lovely, and I tried the sauna too, which was okay. It feels like good value for the price. The bathroom could use an update, though. Thanks to Natalia for helping me at check-in!

The repeated lock trouble was the frustrating part of my one-night stay. My key card failed three times, and after waiting in the hallway for 45 minutes, someone finally came to fix the mechanism. It happened again the next day, leaving me outside my room for another 20 minutes. The hotel is in a good spot, breakfast is good, and the rooms are okay for the price, but the service fell short of what I expected.

The food was very good, the bar had a nice range of beers, and staff were kind when I spoke Portuguese, though very few seemed to speak English. Still, I wouldn't stay here again. The building feels old, and noise carries everywhere: through the thin doors and their large gaps, through the walls, and from the pipes whenever a neighbor showered or flushed. I couldn't sleep, so reception kindly moved me to a renovated room, but it had no soundproofing either. Dust and hair collected on the floor, especially in the corners. I noticed the cleaners didn't have a vacuum, which made that easy to understand. After getting home, I also realized I had been overcharged at checkout. I still haven't been able to get a response from the hotel, even after its HQ urged them to contact me.

The restaurant food was quite good, and my room was spacious and comfortable. Caroline was especially helpful at check-in, thanks for everything. The gym, though, was dreadful: one old, beat-up machine, a few dumbbells, two runners, and a bike in acceptable condition. That may sound minor, but I travel a lot and need somewhere to work out to keep my sanity. The bathroom seemed past its best, and wind made my room door rattle noisily. Put some money into the gym and this hotel could be memorable.
