The stay had a reasonable price, and the hotel itself is nice, functional, cozy, and well located in Brás. My experience with the service, though, was bad. After a full day of walking, I went to sleep, and at 20:00 someone started wrapping clothing bags with tape in the hallway. The noise echoed all down the corridor. I asked if he could do it in his room, but he said the room was too cramped. I complained to reception on WhatsApp. They only apologized for the disturbance after the people had already left. My ratings: environment 5 stars, service 4, location 5, price 4, customer service 2.
I felt very unsafe around the hotel. There were homeless people at the entrance and an overpowering urine smell. I checked in at 14:00 and left at 15:30. Staff were chatting right outside my room, and the only window wouldn't close. When I entered, there was an opened condom packet on the headboard, and the cleaning had been careless. It seemed like the place had been a motel turned into a hotel. My stay was unfortunately awful. Maybe people used to that sort of situation wouldn't find it as bad, but I really didn't enjoy it.
It's basically a motel. The rooms are simple, but they're enough for a night or two if you don't plan to spend much time in them. There was no cable TV, and the channels available were uninteresting. Even Globo had a poor signal. There's no air conditioning, just a small fan. There aren't any restaurants nearby either, so I had to walk twenty minutes or more to find somewhere to eat.
The staff were very attentive, and breakfast was plentiful. The rooms and the small kitchen area are tiny. It's easy to reach and close to Marechal Deodoro metro station, with snack bars and small grocery stores nearby. On weekends, you can also walk along minhocão. There are a lot of homeless people on the main avenue, which can make evening walks feel a bit unsafe, but I didn't have any trouble during my stay.
The bathroom was the problem with every available room downstairs: a really strong mold smell and no ventilation. I asked to move after spotting a man looking in through the window from the roof opposite my room. We only noticed him because my phone made a sound. For that price, I could have found somewhere else. This place was awful.
