The pousada itself is charming, but the chalet my family stayed in was extremely dirty. The dishes and kitchen utensils were filthy, and there was mold all over the top of the refrigerator. My daughters have allergies, so I spent our first day cleaning to try to prevent a reaction to the dust and mold. We arrived one day and left early the next morning. There were also a lot of insects, so bring a strong repellent. The garden needs maintenance too. When it started raining, sparks came from the garden lighting wires. The sparks kept popping because of the water and faulty wiring, which seemed very dangerous, especially for guests with children.

The photos were outdated and the reviews misleading, so choosing this place was a bad decision. The bedding, towels, and kitchen and laundry items were very poor quality. There were few staff available at reception, and the pool water was cloudy, which seemed like a sign it wasn’t being treated. The bathroom needs maintenance, as the photos show, and the cleaning was disappointing. Terrible value for money. We won’t return or recommend it.

The location and facilities are good. The chalets need a general renovation, and the kitchen utensils could be improved. There should also be window screens because there are so many mosquitoes and biting midges. The staff could use more training too.

I really liked it and plan to come back. Don’t expect luxury, but if you’re after peace and quiet, simplicity, comfort, and a cozy feel, this place is perfect.

The accommodation was very dirty right at check-in. The pool was filthy too, and nobody cleaned it even after I asked several times.
