Pousada da Praia

The building is old, but it was comfortable, and everything was clean. My room had its own bathroom, and I loved the pretty beach view from the window. Breakfast was really good too. For a family looking for somewhere inexpensive, it works well. I’d come back.

The room itself was very small, and the bathroom was tiny. The shower water smelled bad and pooled around your feet. The ceiling had mold, the bed felt like concrete under a thin, hard mattress, and the bedding and pillow were awful. Breakfast was sparse: sliced bread with margarine, coconut and Maizena biscuits, a rotten apple and a banana, bakery cassava cake, coffee, and milk. For the price and the city, it was so-so, but I didn’t like it at all. There’s no room service or housekeeper, so you have to go downstairs to ask for everything. There wasn’t anything to eat for someone arriving at night. Those two photos on their profile show the nicer room.

The host said ours was one of the better rooms, which is hard to believe. The furniture looked like it had been donated and never cared for, the bed was ancient, and the mattress was so gross I couldn’t even sit on it. The whole room smelled strongly of mold, felt stifling, and had visible damp on the walls. The bathroom was so tiny I couldn’t really shower. There were no sheets, towels, or blankets, nothing basic at all. I only needed a few hours of sleep and couldn’t manage it. I’m sitting on the floor now because it seems cleaner than the bed. I couldn’t last 10 minutes after arriving. When I asked to cancel, they refused to return the R$180,00, for less than 6 hours of use. Honestly, a horrible place. The staff are nothing...

I left disappointed yesterday. We’d left a wallet with our documents, cash, and card under a pillow in the room. The woman leading the excursion called the inn, and they said there was nothing in the room. That felt incredibly dishonest. We also had no water for showers, then woke up with none for brushing our teeth. The mattress was moldy, the shower was cold, and water pooled on the floor like a little swimming pool. The TV didn’t even have audio. That was my experience here. I’m not coming back.
