I'm sharing this so people know what to expect from Flat 21, especially if they're considering a Christmas or New Year stay. The grounds are attractive and leafy, the pool is great, and the security staff are always around and very friendly and helpful. There are also gentle, affectionate cats in the complex, but they don't seem well fed: when given food, they eat desperately, and some have visible skin problems that look like they may need veterinary care. There's also a scorpion there. The Apart 21 we rented for two weeks in December 2025 was in very poor shape for cleanliness and maintenance, far below what we expected. We had to keep cleaning just to be able to stay there. Without a car, staying here doesn't really work, since everything is far away and there's no nearby infrastructure. The one walkable option is a trail to Praia do Madeiro, about 20 minutes in total. It's shaded and cool the whole way, but only manageable for someone in good physical condition. We wanted quiet nights, but neighbors had frequent parties and talked loudly into the early morning, despite quiet hours starting at 8 pm. It isn't peaceful at night, and we had to alert security several times. The houses share walls, so you can hear everything next door, even someone watching a movie or going up the stairs. That's really uncomfortable if you're looking for a break from city noise. It's important to have a clear idea of what you're renting, because our actual experience in flat 21 was quite different from what was advertised.

I loved this place. The birdsong at dawn and the cats stopping by were lovely. The flats were comfortable, neat, and had everything available.
