Chalés Blue House

The place is beautiful, and the rooms are very good and clean. The towels were good too, and I really liked the excellent pool. Most of the hosts were lovely, though one was in such a bad mood that he didn’t seem suited to dealing with people. I didn’t like breakfast because food was left out where lots of ants and flies gathered. It was easy enough to solve: I went to a bakery and had a great breakfast there.

We had a reservation, but the pousada had changed its name and owner. We couldn’t agree on the price with the new management, even though the place was empty and it was 6 p.m. on a rainy day. Incredible.

The rooms were good and clean, and the location is excellent. But the owner showed no hospitality at all. We had been looking forward to the trip, especially after reading all the glowing reviews about the place and service. I suspect those reviews are fake or written by the owner’s family, because I can’t understand anyone praising his hospitality. The pousada posts daily photos and videos of breakfast items that aren’t actually served. During our stay, the owner decided they would no longer serve us scrambled eggs because he would only buy eggs for making cakes. This was decided halfway through our visit, even though eggs are a basic, inexpensive item. We bought eggs so an employee could cook them for us, but on our final day she said she was too busy. Breakfast is supposed to run from 8:00 to 9:30, but they stop refilling things at 9:00, especially on the last day, when they didn’t even put out French bread. The employees were attentive but left with their hands tied by Daniel, the owner’s stinginess. He also refused to leave a pot of coffee for us to serve ourselves in the afternoon. We bought coffee grounds, a filter holder, and a Melitta filter to make our own, heating water in the microwave. He saw us and removed the microwave the next day, saying it was broken, which seems impossible since every outlet at the pousada is 220V. There were other awful situations too. We felt unwanted, as if we were staying there as a favor. I wouldn’t recommend this pousada to anyone.

We went with our daughters at the beginning of January, on 09/01. From our WhatsApp conversation through checkout, Daniel was attentive and honest. The pousada is simple, just how I like it, with no fuss, and offers wonderful value for money. Everything was simple, clean, and welcoming. The pool was clean and inviting, with naturally warm water. We could walk to the nearby beach with the kids. The shrimp and calabresa portion was generous, even better than the one at the beach, and breakfast was fresh and tasty. The location is wonderful. I recommend it and am already planning to return.
