Pousada Canto de Itamambuca

The pool was really good, and the kids' area was great for my 2-year-old. I liked the location and the place itself is beautiful. Breakfast was good enough for anyone who isn't too demanding. The room had mold on the walls and a cockroach, which I reported to reception, and there were lots of mosquitoes. The air conditioning gave me trouble too, but they fixed it as soon as I told them. It rained heavily while we were there, so I left earlier than planned. Even with the drawbacks, I recommend it.

The common areas have lovely decor, but that gives a misleading impression of the room. It felt poorly equipped, with no hooks or mirror and just one working outlet. The blankets had a strong, unpleasant smell. Breakfast was the same every day, very basic, and they didn't keep it properly stocked. We were short on cutlery every day, and one day there was no bread. The staff weren't in uniform and wore shorts and flip-flops, which made it a bit hard to tell who worked there. Some were willing and friendly, but the management felt very lacking.

Heavy rain warnings in Ubatuba led to road closures on the date of my stay, so I couldn't get there. I contacted the accommodation to reschedule and still haven't received any reply. I lost the money I paid for the reservation, and they marked the stay as if I'd been there. I tried every way I could to reach them, but got no response or help. If this is what after-sales service is like, imagine the rest.

The pousada is in a very good location, but the condition of the place was disappointing and it seemed neglected. The staff were polite, though I don't know if they were short-handed. Our room was dirty and full of mosquitoes, ants, and cockroaches. They didn't change the towels even after I asked for the room to be cleaned. Breakfast was very poor, with stale bread, dirty plates, and greasy tables. The pool was green when we arrived, the children's pool was out of service, and the playroom smelled musty.
