Chalé Verde da Serra

Every time I come here, I feel like I’m in paradise. I’ve stayed in this very cozy chalet three times now, and it’s been perfect each time.

We never even made it to the chalet. My husband had booked and paid well in advance for the Valentine’s Day weekend, and Booking’s listing said firewood and breakfast were included. When he checked, they told him breakfast had a daily fee and only the first load of firewood was complimentary. He asked why this wasn’t clear in the listing. The staff member argued with him and said the details were in tiny letters somewhere else, which felt deliberately hidden from people who might miss them. It was a stressful mess and, to me, showed disregard for customers. This was one of the more expensive similar chalets, and since it didn’t include what we’d expected, my husband said he would cancel. The staff member replied dismissively that he could go ahead. We canceled the paid reservation because of the team’s arrogance and how rudely they treated us, and we don’t want to visit now. A place that gets lots of praise may think its reputation means it can treat customers however it likes. We booked another chalet that’s just as good, where we’re sure we won’t be treated badly.

We were a group of four, and the chalet suited us really well. It matched the Booking listing closely and felt like a dream. A perfect base for exploring Urubici and getting out into nature. I loved our stay.

We were surprised to receive a full breakfast basket each day, included in the nightly rate. The fireplace also kept the chalet warm and comfortable in the cold, and the bed was one of the best I’ve ever slept in at a hotel. We spent two nights with our children, who loved the experience, and I’d especially recommend it for families with kids over four. There’s a four-person hot tub inside the cabin that feels like a heated pool, plus an upstairs bedroom, another downstairs, a living room, and a fully equipped kitchen. We were very comfortable making cheese fondue and spending time together. Outside, we made a fire and roasted marshmallows. Although the chalet is secluded in the mountains, the Wi-Fi is good and there’s streaming TV to keep the kids occupied. We barely used it, though, because Urubici has so many parks and attractions to visit. It would be a shame to spend all your time inside.
