Pousada Convento Da Penha

It was such a lovely stay, and I already miss it. The place feels peaceful and cozy, with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Everything was clean and well organized, and you can tell they care about the details. The service was impeccable. I'll definitely come back and highly recommend it!

The inn is very nice, but there was no receptionist, and they seemed unhappy if you wanted to come and go. They say it's open 24 hours, but they also get annoyed about arrival and departure times. Breakfast was the same every day, and it was served alongside a cat, a parakeet, and a rooster.

My room, 201, had a few good points: the air conditioning worked well, the shower was hot, and the bedding was good quality. Breakfast was simple, and the parking is about three blocks from the inn. I chose this simple place because I was in town for a civil service exam, and all I really needed was a good night's sleep. I didn't get one. The gate kept opening and closing noisily through the night. In the morning, the inn's rooster woke me, then an alarm went off and went unnoticed because the inn operates remotely without an on-site receptionist. I had to go up to the top floor to let someone know while trying to get a little more rest after a poor night. The building is enclosed and has lots of stairs, which could be difficult for anyone with limited mobility. Given how much my sleep was affected, the nightly rate didn't feel worth the experience.

We had a peaceful stay and were welcomed warmly. The colonial breakfast was just perfect!
