Love At First Sight Hotel

A cold Kalik, a full moon rising over the horizon, and dolphins out in the surf made for a lovely evening at Love at First Site. Sheila is a wonderful host, and the place is beautiful and well cared for. Her hospitality is hard to beat, and the conch salad is so good. I'd recommend it without hesitation, 10/10.

You can watch plenty of scenery and sometimes spot local wildlife, with beach access and a pool right there. The setting is peaceful, with a cool breeze from the northwest. From the restaurant seating overlooking the river, you can see lots of fish, and the lake has a whirlpool that happens twice a day.

Watching the fish from the deck kept us busy while the food was being made. We spent the whole time looking at all the fish around the reef at the edge of the hotel. We ordered cracked conch and fish fingers, and both were delicious.

Sheila's cousin Alvin lives next door and guides bonefishing, with 17 years of experience. You can walk to some excellent local bonefish flats, or rent kayaks across the creek to reach blue holes and mangrove islands. The tide pushes a huge flow past the deck at Stafford Creek, and at night you can plainly see tarpon, jacks, and other fish striking. We had such a good week here last year with my son and grandson that my 9-year-old granddaughter insisted it was her turn this time. We just spent another delightful week at Miss Sheila's lodge. Great food, comfortable rooms, a cool pool, a fabulous view, and a modest cost. What more could you ask for?
