Dhensa Resort

We were amazed as soon as we arrived. Set beautifully among pine trees, the hotel was lovely throughout, from the lobby and restaurant to the well-kept rooms. This was one of the nicest hotels we stayed at in Bhutan, and anywhere else too. The staff were amazing, and in the evening they entertained the guests with Bhutanese dances. Both dinner and breakfast buffets were excellent, with Western and Bhutanese dishes. We also tried the sauna, which was brilliant on a cool day.

The rooms and bathrooms are nicely done, and the views from both the rooms and restaurant are amazing. There’s a little library too, plus a small spa and an indoor pool that was closed in February. The hotel is tucked into the mountains and very quiet. Breakfast and dinner were very good, and guests had a bonfire and cultural program in the evening.

The rooms are the only real highlight here. It’s a good hotel, but hospitality is lacking across the board. Management didn’t seem concerned with guest experience, and the place was understaffed. The GM and Restaurant Manager were both absent from their duties. Food was below average, and the resort felt dead.

We came away with many happy memories. The resort sits in a picturesque spot surrounded by lush pine trees, and mornings start with birdsong. Staff were courteous and attentive to small details, and our room was spotless. Special thanks to Mr Yogeshwar, the manager, who arranged a cake and decorated the room at short notice for my wedding anniversary. Highly recommended.
