Paro Grand Resort

We enjoyed our stay and look forward to coming back to this hotel. The food and rooms were very nice, and the service team were kind. The owner was friendly and never refused a request for service.

All the staff were cooperative, and Phuntsho Namgyal and ugyen lhamo were especially helpful. Our group of 15 stayed at Paro grand for two nights and got very good service. We’d be happy to visit again.

The staff were pleasant, but they seemed untrained and couldn’t resolve the problems, and management wasn’t able to do much either. The packed breakfast was another disappointment. The food was average, and the cooking oil gave me bad heartburn, which was rough in the cold and at high altitude. Getting to the hotel was difficult. It’s out of the way, the approach is poor, and a cab from the city centre cost NU 500. Despite the claim of a central water heater, we never had properly hot water for bathing during our stay. At best it was lukewarm, even with temperatures at -2 degrees. After we complained several times, staff told us to let the water run for 30 minutes first. That’s a terrible waste of resources. We would have been fine with just two buckets of hot water. We’d spent the previous six days in other parts of Bhutan and had an amazing time there. Paro was terribly disappointing. The name sets you up for something grand, but there’s nothing grand about this place.

The food was nice, and the staff were very cooperative and polite. Special thanks to mr.Tashi Rimzim for helping arrange the breakfast and dinner menu around our needs. The reception staff were cooperative too. A very good hotel to stay at.
