Cholay khangzang

The meals were a highlight. The culinary team adjusted the menu to our specific needs, then explained the ingredients and cooking methods while sharing stories about the dishes and local culture. It made the experience feel special and connected us with Bhutanese traditions. We stayed for two nights. The rooms were clean and had great views, and the whole team cared about making our stay enjoyable. They were passionate about sharing Bhutan’s culture, which made the visit feel enriching as well as comfortable. A special shoutout to the manager, who was professional and clearly proud of his team. We highly recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Thimphu for a warm, genuine experience.

We could see Big Buddha Statue from our balcony, and the rooms were extremely clean. The staff welcomed us with fresh tea, explained everything, showed us to our rooms, and made sure we were settled. Sonam especially looked after us like family. This hotel is near the top of my list of places I’ve stayed in Bhutan. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a luxurious, peaceful stay in Thimphu.

The food was good and the welcome was warm, but the lack of adequate heating overshadowed the stay. Our room was over 120 sqft and the heating system couldn’t warm it. After we complained several times, the staff gave us one heater, which still wasn’t enough. I was surprised a 3-star hotel had no better solution, especially since the restaurant had three convertible ACs heating an area of over 500 sqft. We had a disappointing winter stay. If you’re visiting with family in winter and need proper heating, I’d strongly consider somewhere else. 1/5 stars.

The restaurant is huge and has a good range of tasty dishes. Our room was spacious and clean, with a lovely view over the Thimphu valley. Some rooms can even see the grand Buddha statue. The staff were polite, and the lift was convenient. I had a delightful stay at Cholay Khangzang and would recommend it in Thimphu.
