There’s potential here, and the accommodation is lovely, but the standards need to improve before it can compete with the best. They’re adding extensions now, though there’s still plenty to do to keep the property looking decent. Regular maintenance would help. It’s not terrible, just not there yet.

From the gatekeeper to the front desk operator, I encountered arrogant staff and some of the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. I can’t even bring myself to name the place. Customers are the reason employees are hired and paid, and management needs to make that clear to its staff.

The place is beautiful, but the staff situation needs attention. Having a drunk employee on the premises swearing at customers is unacceptable. Management needs to step up and deal with this.

The location is quiet, along the river and just a few kilometres from the city centre. Mikelele is in the Letlhakane or Boteti@ area, one of Botswana’s richest regions for natural resources, with three or four diamond mines. It serves people from nearby and farther away, including travellers passing through, weekend guests and people on business trips to Letlhakane and the surrounding area. The property also works for business retreats or workshops, and get-togethers with family or friends. It feels like a beautiful home away from home.
