Kaskad (Minsk)

It’s really nice and peaceful.

It’s a lovely complex, with plenty of places to walk, and the nearby metro and train station are convenient. There’s also a high-speed tram line planned nearby, and the radiator factory is supposed to be demolished. The original plan called for a residential complex with a park and fountain in the center, direct access from Kalvariyskaya Street, and a separate metro exit. They did make a path under the bridges to the metro, but you still have to cross the road to reach it. That would have made it business class instead of comfort class. I’d also prefer a separate, large vestibule for the entrance to the Minsk-North train platform instead of having it go through the metro crossing. Still, it’s a nice place.

We’ve lived in Cascade for four years and like nearly everything about it. The green courtyards are spacious, with the buildings not crammed together. Getting around is easy, and everything is close, with amenities on the ground floors. My child’s school is only five minutes away. We either have good soundproofing or lucky neighbors, because we don’t hear anything. The residents are friendly and the community feels welcoming. It’s odd to see negative reviews from people who don’t live here.

The complex itself is nice. The courtyard is well kept, and having shops and the metro close by is a big plus. But peaceful sleep is another matter. The noise has been awful, though maybe I’ve just been unlucky. To the neighbors on the third floor of building 4b, entrance 9: please stop squeaking and dragging things across the floor at all hours. People live around you and sometimes need to rest. Comfort and quiet are the downsides here.
