Easy Inn

For the price, Easy Inn is hard to beat, and it's been consistent on both of my visits. It's clean and safe, with a TV and AC in every room. The front desk ladies are lovely. They called a cab when needed and had good food suggestions. There's a gas station across the street with coffee and meat pies in the morning, plus snacks and cold beer later. A grocery store and other hotels are nearby, though this area isn't really walkable, especially at night. There's a night security guard. It's a no-frills place, and the water pressure is weak. On my first stay, the hot water couldn't keep up when there was a large group, but that wasn't an issue the second time. The walls are thin, so bring earplugs if your neighbors are loud. What actually kept me awake was the door rattling in the wind. I wedged a chair against it and that fixed it. There are nicer hotels closer to shops and food, but this one has been reliable for what it costs.

The staff were super friendly, and there's a pizza place and gas station nearby. The bed was comfy, but the water was room temperature, not hot.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the terraces are cute places to sit. There's a grocery store three buildings away. The owner seems to be trying hard to update the place, though it sounds like getting materials in town makes that difficult and expensive. But I wouldn't recommend staying in Belize City. It felt run down, dirty, and unsafe, with little to see or do beyond flea market type shops. Walking around means dodging cars, and the sidewalks and sewer grates can be dangerous. Most places close by 6pm. I'd only go there for tour pickups. At the inn, the beds felt like wood and there was no warm water. The floors were muddy and dirty because of road construction out front. There's a communal fridge, but no phone in the room, so if your own phone doesn't work, ask the front desk to call a taxi or lend you a phone to arrange a tour. The outlet was loose and wouldn't hold a plug. The door had a basic knob lock, no deadbolt, and the locks seemed easy to pick. There's no elevator, so ask for a first floor room if you have joint problems. For about $45 US a night it might be worth it, but they charge $100.

The price was very reasonable, and I felt safe traveling solo as a woman, with someone always at the front desk and solid door locks. It's a bit far from downtown, but the grocery store is less than a block away, so I could buy food and cook most of my meals there. Everyone working there was kind, and Vita especially went out of her way to make my arrival easy and worry free. I had a great stay.
