Lamanai Landings Hotel and Marina

I was so glad I stayed here for the night instead of rushing out from Belize city on a day trip. In the morning, my guide picked me up by boat near the restaurant for the trip along the river to the Mayan ruins at Lamanai. The location worked perfectly for that visit. The rooms over the lagoon are amazing, and the food was the most delicious, authentic restaurant food I've found. I loved having morning coffee there and starting the day with a Belizean breakfast. A drink by the pool at night is lovely too. Such a great base for a river adventure in the north of the country.

A little trouble with the hot water and shower, but otherwise a great place to stay. The rooms are spacious and have nice balconies, and the pool is lovely. The bar and restaurant were excellent, and Norman was an excellent barman. It's in a quiet part of Belize.

A memory from my stay here seven years ago popped up on Facebook, and I realized I'd never reviewed it. I was with a few girls and we had a great time, including a boat trip to the Mayan ruins. The food was delicious. There were lots of bugs, as you'd expect in the jungle parts.

The rooms and location were good, and once it arrived the food was tasty. The restaurant service was the problem. After drinks, we tried to order, but the waitress seemed tied up watching a buffet booked in advance for another group. We waited 45 minutes from our first request before we could place an order, and there was no other waitress. The barkeeper at least took our drink orders directly. Maybe the waitress was new, but I expected her to have more support. It took a bit over an hour for our food to arrive, and one dish was wrong.
