Hotel Ocean Paradise

The location was awesome, with good bars and food in every direction, and the Sprinter water taxi right in front of the hotel. Staff were extremely helpful with my questions and even reached out to arrange airport pickup. Renting a cart worked well, although parking can be a pain in this busy area. I was here alone for a 7 day fishing trip and had worried from the reviews that it might be rough. Going in with low expectations helped. My room on the third story may have cut down on street noise. The hotel is right next to a Catholic Church whose bells ring every hour during daylight, so it may not suit late-night party people. My AC worked great, the TV was fine, and the room was very clean. It had two beds, one blanket, two towels, extra TP, hand soap, and a working mini fridge. Hot water was okay. I asked for a washcloth, but you have to bring or buy your own. Remember to sign out of your accounts on the TV before leaving, or the next guest could use them and change your settings to Spanish. I'd recommend it to budget travelers who don't want to share a room in a hostel.

The bathroom was dirty, there was hair on the bed sheets, and the AC barely worked, leaving the room uncomfortable. We also had no hot water. When we asked about it, staff said they couldn't fix it because it was the weekend, which was a lie. We rented a golf cart from the hotel after agreeing on a price, but they added another $10 when we paid, with some excuse. The cart also had very little fuel. And when I pointed out that the towel they gave me had a hole, they promised a replacement that never came. A nightmare from beginning to end. I strongly recommend avoiding this "hotel".

It's close to the ferry landing, they rent golf carts, and I didn't see any bugs. Our room had working electricity, a mini fridge with freezer, warm shower water, a ceiling fan, and AC that worked for us, though not for others in our group. The rest was a letdown. The property is badly run down, and the cheap beds, pillows, and linens were uncomfortable. Three of us had just one towel for three days. There was a single window with no light, stuck shut behind a large piece of furniture, and the lighting overall was poor. The awkward furnishings made the rooms uncomfortable, and the bathroom grout and tiles were dirty. I haven't stayed anywhere this bad since I was in my twenties, which tracks for a bare-bones place to sleep like the backpacker hostels I used on a tight budget. I'd only come back if money were extremely tight and my back more forgiving. If a decent night's sleep and a little charm matter to you, steer clear of this dilapidated place.

For the price, this is a very good hotel. The owner is friendly, and my room, bed, AC, hot water, and TV were all good. The bar and event hall next door make it noisy outside, but that's not the hotel's fault. Earplugs can help.
