We spent a lovely week at Andrea's beach house, a peaceful, rustic place that was perfect for three of us. It sits just steps from the beach, and I'm grateful we got to experience this relaxed part of Belize. We saw and heard birds all around, went swimming and snorkeling, and took the kayak out to see starfish and other fish on clear days. Bikes were available on site, and we used them daily to explore the village and find food. Everything we ate was fresh and delicious. We also bought groceries and made breakfast in the house. The only trouble was ants and mosquitoes, but that's part of the territory. Thanks again, Andrea, for a fantastic stay. Can't wait to come back!

If you're after room service, this basic, classic Belizean beach house probably isn't for you. The pictures are accurate: it sits among palm trees a few metres from what is virtually a private beach. The trees keep it cool by day, and the tradewinds help at night. There are lots of birds and sometimes dolphins. No A/C, but we didn't need it; I even wanted a blanket on a couple of nights. It's about a 10-minute walk from Placencia Airport and at most a 10-minute bike ride on a flat paved road to Placencia Village. There you'll find groceries, fruit and veg. stands, restaurants, beach bars, and beach areas. Digi has an office there, along with many dive shops and tour operators. Several good places are a short walk down the beach. The owner kindly lets guests use bicycles and kayaks, and there's good snorkeling just off the wharf. Inside, it's classic wood, with a basic kitchen and bathroom. The hot water is great, just lower the pressure to get your ideal temperature. It reminds me of San Pedro 20 or 30 years ago. Get ready to chill in style.

The palm trees on the property and the sea breeze coming through the rooms kept us cool and comfortable. It felt private and very safe, tucked between quiet, upscale hotels. I can't imagine a better spot on the peninsula. Nancy, Jahvree, and the other caretakers were friendly and helpful, even with our laundry. After a week on a sailboat, Andrea's Finca house was just right for resting, finding our land legs, and calmly exploring Placencia. Her tips for nearby pools, bars, and restaurants were spot on. We walked the 100 yards to Turtle Inn beach bar several times.

This is a clean, basic house on a public beach, with the ocean just feet from the door. It's a glamorized glamping experience by US standards, though the furniture is solid wood. They provide a kayak and bikes, which is great. There's no air conditioning, TV, or radio, so plan to unplug. The Wi-Fi is good.

The cabana is rustic and beautiful, and the stunning personal beach makes for a very relaxing stay. It's affordable too. Placencia is a very short drive away, or 5-10 minutes by bike, and bikes are provided. I hope to stay here again next time I'm in Belize. This place is a STEAL.
