Becks Bed and Breakfast

The breakfasts were excellent, and the bathrooms are roomy. We also had reliable air conditioning and WiFi. December through early March is the cool season here; during our stay, the humidity was lower than we expected and temperatures were in the 70s to low 80s. The place is a little outside the village, but those extra miles are worth it. Beck's has three guest rooms set around a pretty Spanish colonial courtyard, with lovely grounds and a big veranda overlooking an African tulip tree where we saw rufous-tailed and green mango hummingbirds. There are hammocks, easy chairs, and even an exercise bike. The hosts made us feel like family and helped arrange outings. The early morning birding boat tour on the lagoon is a great choice. Robert even lent me jeweler's screwdrivers so I could fix my telephoto lens and keep photographing the roughly 100 birds we saw over our two-day stay. If you don't want to rent a car, Robert can arrange airport pickup and return. The airport is just under an hour away. Highly recommended.

We had amazing breakfast and dinner here, plus free drinking water and a hot shower. The house is gorgeous, with big rooms, king-size beds, Google TV, decks, and a lovely spot for eating outside.

There are birds everywhere, and the chefs make fabulous food. The property is absolutely gorgeous, like a Spanish villa. Robert and his wife are extraordinary. I totally recommend staying here.

The food was fantastic. We had dinner here three times, and every meal was excellent. The house and all the plants are beautiful, too. We really enjoyed our stay at Beck’s B&B. Our room was huge, with a walk-in closet, little desk, table, fridge, and a roomy bathroom with two sinks. Our hosts also helped set up two tours: one to the Lamani ruins, and a lovely late-afternoon lagoon boat trip with an excellent bird guide. It gets very hot, so early morning and late afternoon were the best times for walking around. We saw Yucatán Jay, several kinds of Orioles, Melodious Blackbird, Acorn Woodpecker, Great Kiskadee, Tropical Kingbird, Social Flycatcher, and plenty more. Raucous pairs of Parrots flew past often, too.
