We had a five-star stay overall and would return. The hotel is beautiful, with large, tastefully decorated rooms, excellent reception staff, and an amazing concierge. Its oceanfront setting is hard to beat, with lots of good restaurants just steps away and a protected lagoon for swimming and snorkeling. The pool and beach club setup was the one drawback. The best poolside spots and cabanas need to be booked ahead, and some cost extra, though hotel guests get a discount. The loungers set aside for hotel guests are farther away, and service there wasn’t as good. We rented a cabana for the day and got noticeably better service. The pool service, food, and cocktails were excellent, but there seemed to be a gap between how beach club visitors and hotel guests were treated.

The water access was a real highlight. A breakwater protects the swimming and snorkeling area, where we saw loads of beautiful tropical fish. The Art Hotel itself is new, clean, and strikingly modern, with basic amenities, large beach towels, a complimentary bottle of wine, and a Nespresso machine in the room. Staff were friendly and arrival and departure went smoothly. We visited in January 2026 and had a mostly positive week. The hotel is walkable to excellent local restaurants, our room was cleaned well every day, and the staff were helpful. The guests seemed mostly young and spent a lot of time taking selfies. Be aware that most loungers cost extra. Getting into the pool was awkward because we had to squeeze between paid loungers, and it closed early, around 6 pm. We also ran into communication problems between the hotel and the separately managed bar and beach team. The hotel’s information about which loungers were free and when didn’t match what beach staff told us, and we were charged for something that should have been free. A manager focused on helping guests resolved it, but it was still unpleasant. On another day, a beach staff member said we couldn’t sit by the ocean before 10 am, which seemed odd. Even with those issues, we enjoyed our time at the Art Hotel.

The Art Hotel has a polished boutique feel, with tasteful decor and a stylish interior. Our room was clean and roomy, the bed was comfortable, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. They also left beach towels and a nice souvenir bag for us. We spent eight days there and loved the central waterfront location. So many restaurants were an easy walk away, and there was plenty of parking nearby. They’re building a parking garage now, which should make parking even easier later. The staff were professional, polite, and helpful throughout. We’re glad we chose it and would stay again.

The design and reception staff were the bright spots. We chose The Art Hotel for its look, pool, ocean, bar, and restaurant, but after that our experience went downhill. The rooms carry noise badly, and we had to stuff a towel under the door to block the echo. Housekeeping started at 7 am and the sound of glass being smashed woke us up. Pool and restaurant staff seemed much more interested in daily lounge renters than hotel guests. Several times we were asked to leave casual seats at the bar restaurant, and we got so fed up that we stopped going. Nearby resorts welcomed us warmly for drinks, lunch, and dinner without reservations or attitude. The inside bar often had eight or more servers hanging around. It felt more like an employee break room than a place for hotel guests. All the pool seating is rented, as are most beach chairs. Hotel guests get loungers by the ocean, but they’re windy, have little shade, and are the least desirable spots. At check-in, they offered a complimentary welcome cocktail, then asked us to move to a table that felt like a hostess stand or a corner seat for a dunce. We felt unwelcome, and saw other couples treated similarly before we stopped trying to use the hotel. One star means we won’t return.

I’ll be back. The property is beautiful, the ocean is easy to reach for a swim or a bit of snorkeling, and there are plenty of nearby restaurants. It’s also very walkable to Downtown Willemstead, the Queen Emma Bridge, and Otrabanda. Hotel service was wonderful. It was always a pleasure to ask for help, and WhatsUp made it easy to send questions or requests. I especially liked the beach bag, flip flops to keep, towels to return, tea selection, and complimentary water each day. It took me a few days to realize that Lemon Tree / Lamunchi restaurant is run separately from the hotel. Lemon Tree Beach Club handles the pool and oceanfront bed area. The staff there were kind, but even with my hotel bracelet visible, I often had to get their attention to place an order. Love and appreciation to Ella and Sarina.
