Ramada by Wyndham Abbotsford

Our place flooded, so we needed somewhere close to work and other amenities. We didn't know how long we'd need to stay, but they were able to keep us in the same room each night. It's budget-friendly if all you need is a shower, bed, microwave, and fridge. The staff were helpful.

The room was worn and old, and the bed hadn't been cleaned after the previous guest. There were dirty dog paw prints and lots of hair on it. The tub drain was filthy and full of hair too. There was no clock or phone in the room, and the restaurant closed at 4 PM, so we couldn't get dinner. The beds weren't side by side, so only one person could watch the TV. It was noisy, and after seeing the room's condition, my daughter didn't even want to check out the pool. We stayed one night, but would have left for another hotel if it had been longer. In my opinion, this doesn't match what Ramada hotels usually look like or offer, and it shouldn't be allowed to use the name. Stay away.

Last weekend was a terrible stay. My room was freezing, had just one pillow and a bug, and there were stains on the wall and ceiling. The shower was broken, so there was no water at all, though I didn't find that out until the next morning. I told a staff member right away. She said she'd send housekeeping to check it; housekeeping tried the water, said, “sorry can't fix,” and started to walk away. I said that wasn't okay and asked for another room. Four hours passed with no update. I went to the front desk to complain again, and the woman there was rude. She said they were trying to get a room ready, which should have been communicated to me. I told her the situation was disgusting and unacceptable, but she talked over me and didn't apologize or offer a discount. I paid $350 for the worst experience and got neither a discount for the inconvenience nor an apology. Incompetent, rude staff and horrible conditions. This place should be shut down.

We were here this past weekend for VBC provincials, and people were a little unsure after reading the reviews. They are working hard to upgrade the hotel. My stay was satisfying, even though the place isn't perfect. It gets a bad rap, and I'd stay again, though I'm not sure about the team.
