What made the stay special was Nicole and Al. They were thoughtful from the first welcome through their emails and messages, and they looked after us with care and great tips for things to do. The food was a highlight too, every course felt lovingly made and showed real skill. Our room was clean and just right for us. We also loved taking little walks along the road to spot whales, herons, and other wildlife. The lodge itself is beautiful, peaceful, and full of interesting things. Thanks, Nicole and Al!

We couldn't find a thing to fault. The rooms are lovely, and there are comfortable spots indoors to watch the water and look out for whales. Nicole and Al are wonderful hosts, and the food is the best I've had in a long time. They're great cooks, and it was clear from all the local people coming in for breakfast and dinner that they're doing a great job. The lodge is an incredible addition to the island. Thank you!

The big bay window at the end of the dining room was a lovely place to have morning coffee and watch boats and wildlife pass. The Lodge has an eclectic feel and a warmth I haven't found elsewhere. The rooms are charming and pleasant, with a rustic, slightly musty smell from the wood and age. My sister and I needed somewhere at the last minute while we were in the Bay for a family ceremonial function. Nicole worked around our hectic schedule, and Al made some of the best food I've had on Alert Bay, nearly as good as my Ada's! They even packed breakfast for us to take on the ferry on our last day. This place really earns the name "Lodge." I'd happily stay again next time I'm up.

The hosts made the place feel like home, and the island's relaxed pace and friendly people made my downtime genuinely restful. There was beautiful scenery all around and Bald Eagles everywhere to watch. I was there for work for about three weeks, so I didn't get much time off, but I enjoyed the quiet whenever I could. The lodge is gorgeous, with cedar walls and ceilings, decor I loved, and plenty of local art and artifacts to look at. My room, #4, was spacious, with a comfortable bed, a medium-sized fridge, table and chairs, lounge chairs, and a nice deck for fresh air and views. I really enjoyed staying here. Highly recommend it for a bit of R & R if you're on the island.

The meals were one of the best parts of our holiday. Nicole and Al are kind, funny, and knowledgeable hosts, and both are phenomenal chefs. Their comfort food was full of flavour, creative, and expertly cooked. Every part of each dish showed how much care and skill went into it. The playlists during our stay fit the mood perfectly too. The lodge has loads of character. It's a beautifully converted church with a wood-burning stove, local art, and artifacts that reflect Alert Bay's history and spirit. We came for the culture and coastal views, and left talking about the food. Nicole and Al seem to be just getting started, and the lodge is already becoming a destination in itself.
