Captain's Inn

My room was modern and comfortable, and the ceiling fan cooled it effectively. The inn stayed quiet after a day of driving and exploring. It was easy to forget there were other guests since noise didn't carry from nearby rooms. Our hostess was bubbly and welcoming. There are several shops and restaurants within walking distance, and the harbor and wharf are nice to wander around. I'd recommend this location.

The location is the best thing about this place, though front facing rooms can get noisy when the bar across the street is busy. The person at the front desk was very nice, but completely unaccommodating. We asked to leave our locked bikes while we went to Hopewell Rocks and were essentially told no. We also asked if we could charge our car and were told no because they were concerned we might blow a fuse. It wasn't a problem for us, but we were baffled by how inhospitable a hospitality business felt.

The rooms were spotless, the prices were great, and the beds were extremely comfortable. Set on the edge of a beautiful coastal town, the place has a welcoming, rustic feel, and the staff will absolutely warm your heart. It really has it all!

Alma is a pleasant little village, interesting in its own right, with a neat bar and brewery in a former church and some great restaurants. It's also close to attractions around the bay of fundy. We stayed in the off season, when only two rooms were booked. A staff member greeted us at the convenience store/gas station next door, which has the same owner, checked us in, and showed us around the inn. There wasn't much staff presence in the B&B, but we knew we could walk to the store if anything came up, so that didn't bother us. Breakfast was self serve in a shared kitchen, with cereal and other basics, and we could keep our own food in the fridge. If you want a traditional served breakfast, this might not be the place for you. We actually liked the setup since we're not very social in the morning. The B&B was bright and clean.
