Sélectôtel Amqui Pastali

The room was clean, the bed was great, and the shower had lots of hot water with good pressure. There’s a snowmobile trail to the hotel, and it’s a great area. But the restaurant staff were slow to check on us and didn’t seem very interested. They spoke little or no English, which made the bar and restaurant experience really frustrating. Great for sleeping, but I’d eat somewhere else.

We paid around $190 after taxes for three people, which felt a bit high. The room had a sofa bed for one of us, and it wasn’t very comfortable. The view was beautiful, and the rooms were clean with enough amenities, but the beds were noisy.

The indoor pool and resto are easy to reach through an enclosed walkway. For $30 more, I’d get the bigger room facing the river again. It was spacious, with a roomy balcony and everything well arranged, including real glass wine glasses set out on the table. Felt like a mini resort.

It’s not a palace, more like a well-kept Super8, with some rooms that feel like a motel. Others have a nice river view and outdoor chairs. There’s an indoor pool, and the Pastali restaurant is on site, see my review. The bar looks like it’s been left in the 80’s and really needs updating. Still, it’s not a bad place: rooms are clean and staff are generally polite and nice. A major refurbishment is underway, slowly but steadily.
