The Lark & Loon Inn

We were sorry we hadn't allowed more time for the Evangeline Trail, since Annapolis Royal and the area around it looked deserving of a longer visit. Our one-night stay at the Lark & Loon Inn in early September 2025 was lovely. Kevin and Lesley welcomed us warmly and their hospitality felt genuine. The house is beautifully decorated, and our room and adjoining bathroom suited us perfectly. It was an easy walk into town and back for dinner, and breakfast was a treat.

Breakfast was superb, and the owners were accommodating, rightly proud of this special place, and keen to improve it where they can. The spacious, well-furnished den and parlour are available for guests to use privately. The rooms were quiet and comfortable, and there was plenty of room to park. It's easy to find and within walking or biking distance of everything, including the wonderful Royal Historic Gardens.

Breakfast was a lovely chance to chat with Kevin and Lesley, and they made sure it never felt rushed. The food was delicious and homemade, and they even shared family recipes. They’re full of local history and had ideas for things to do around Nova Scotia. The house itself is spotless, tastefully furnished, and has everything needed for a comfortable stay. There’s pottery made by Kevin along with lots of interesting memorabilia and artefacts. It’s also just a short walk from the town center. Kevin and Lesley made us feel at home, almost like family, and really went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. I’d highly recommend the Lark and Loon.

We parked the car for most of our visit and got around on foot. The Lark and Loon is within a 15-minute walk of the heart of Annapolis Royal. When we arrived, Kevin gave us a quick introduction, then pointed us toward the one restaurant still open, since everything else in town closes after 8pm. The next morning we had a hearty breakfast and just-right coffee. Thanks to Kevin and Leslie for welcoming us and taking such good care of us. Fantastic stay!
