The room has been updated since our last visit in summer '25, including the bathroom, floors, and linens, and even the exterior looks refreshed. It was lovely and clean, as it has always been. We’ve stopped here occasionally while passing through Arnprior for more than 30 years, through several changes in management. Friendly staff, good value, and a solid 5/5 for a drive-up motel.

The couches are hard as a rock, and the service was awful. When we were leaving, you came to my car, picked up a straw from the ground, and accused me of throwing it there. You also came into my room and kicked my wife out so you could inspect it before we left. I’ve stayed at hundreds of hotels and motels, and none of them has ever needed to inspect my room like that. And about the declined card, I don’t know what you’re talking about. I gave one star because of how you treated us. I usually leave plenty of good reviews, but after spending my hard-earned money and being treated like crap, I’m not going to. You need to learn to respect your patrons. I’ll stay down the road at the Country Squire, where they don’t profile people or treat them like crap. You’re a clown.

The room was in very poor condition, and when we politely brought up our concerns, the owner responded in a disrespectful and completely unprofessional way. Getting checked in had already been difficult. Instead of explaining the reservation and check-in process, the owner was racist toward my friend and became verbally aggressive. My friends and I were deeply disappointed by the stay. Everyone deserves to be treated fairly and with respect. I’m sharing this so others know what happened, and hope the management reflects on how guests are treated.

The room was filthy. Our towels were dirty, and the smoke/alarm sensor started beeping after we fell asleep because its battery was low. None of us could sleep, and as a group of women we didn’t feel safe going to the front desk in the middle of the night. We’d been exhausted from a long drive and everything nearby was booked, so we stayed. In the morning, we asked about compensation and the owner yelled at us to “get out” and threatened to call the police. We told him calmly to go ahead. The incident was caught on camera. When I started recording his behaviour, he lunged at me to take my phone. We had to leave for our rafting trip and couldn’t wait for the police, though we saw them arrive as we were leaving. His wife pulled him away from us after he attacked us, as shown in the attached photo. The whole thing was stressful, unprofessional, and unacceptable. The dirty rooms, unsafe atmosphere, and poor customer service mean I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. I’d give zero stars if I could. It began before we even arrived. I booked through Expedia using a Visa debit card, and the owner called beforehand to say he couldn’t process the payment. At check-in, when I explained that I’d reserved with a Visa debit and Expedia had accepted the card, he became aggressive, slammed my card on the counter, and accused me of fraud. My two friends stepped in as things got heated. We had one of the worst hotel experiences of my life at Arnprior Hotel.

This happened more than three years ago, but I never got around to writing about it until now. I’m originally from Arnprior and was visiting with friends from out of town. Two of the four of us booked a room here. We’d gone to dinner at The Prior, and since we hadn’t realized they’d changed their hours and closed early, we weren’t ready to say goodbye. My friend and I invited the other two women back for one drink and a little more time together before they went to their own accommodations. We got to the motel around 8-8:30pm. My friend had a six-pack to share among the four of us. We were all in our 30s, and there was no plan for the other women to stay overnight or for anyone to party. I explained politely that they’d have one drink, then leave. We hadn’t seen each other in a long time and just wanted another hour together, and we’d be respectful. The owner must have seen us arrive with the beer and the other two women, because the room phone rang as soon as we got there. He said the two visitors had to leave right away and that “no partying allowed.” He kept calling to berate us, so we decided to pack up and go. Before we could gather everything, the owner and, I assume, his wife began banging on the door. My friend opened it, and the owner tried to push inside while telling us to leave and berating us further. We’d been quiet and respectful the whole time. We left after collecting our things. The owner did refund me, which I appreciated, but the whole thing felt very odd for a motel. I’d understand the reaction if we’d been drunk, loud, obnoxious, or actually partying, but we were just four friends trying to spend a little more time together.
