We planned to arrive after dark and take the ferry the next day, so we wanted a quiet night on the west side of Saguenay where my wife could enjoy the crossing in daylight. The place was spacious, clean, and welcoming, with everything seeming ready for a comfortable stay, right down to the note on the door and the kitchen island. Hats off to the owners. I hope we can come back.

The price seemed good to me, and the place was clean and pleasant. I enjoyed the balcony view, especially since we were planning to go whale watching. The owner is upfront that Baie Sainte Catherine doesn't have much in the way of restaurants or other things to offer.

The whale watching was great, easily five stars, but there wasn't much else to do. Even walking around felt unpleasant because the area is so desolate. I also found the location misleading: one photo made it look like the place was right on the beach, but it isn't. The interior was okay, though pretty dated. I have other reasons I disliked the place, but this is already getting long. For whale watching, I'd consider staying at a hotel an hour away and driving over instead. That's the only activity here.

We had trouble reaching the owner during our two-day stay. She said she was having an issue with her cell phone and company. When we asked about it, she gave us a $20 rebate to make up for the poor service.
