Elk + Avenue Hotel

The loft bedroom was really spacious, and the shower was great, with a satisfying setup and strong water pressure. There’s a hot tub and sauna, plus a coffee shop and a lovely restaurant right in the hotel. Service was always prompt and friendly. It’s a perfect, convenient spot close to everything in Banff. I was very happy with my stay and have no complaints.

The outside looks good, and the staff were great. The bed, shampoo, and other amenities looked good too, but it quickly felt like appearance was all they had going for them. The minifridge froze everything inside. There were no convenient outlets, so charging a phone meant using the only outlet, awkwardly placed in the middle of the room. The coffee machine and water heater didn’t work, and the telephone was disconnected when we arrived. The TV quality was very poor. Cleaning was superficial and incomplete from the start, and you have to ask for it. Staying at the hotel gave no advantage for getting into the restaurant, either. We waited an hour even though half the restaurant was empty. Is this what a hotel stay is in 2025? Not worth the price.

Elk + Avenue worked well for both my family and my conference. I needed a relaxing place where my husband and son could stay comfortably while I attended a three-day event, and I’m glad I picked it. My conference venue was only a seven-minute walk away. The hotel is also close to shops, the Bow River trail, the community library, museums, and even the Hoodoos viewpoint. Staff were friendly and accommodating. We liked having a cozy shared area to unwind after a long walk or trek, use the microwave, and refill our water bottles. Good Earth cafe in the building was a nice bonus for affordable, convenient meals.

We had a great time here and will definitely come back. The room was good value, and everyone on staff was friendly and accommodating. It’s a handy spot if you want to walk around downtown Banff. We didn’t get to try the restaurant downstairs, though it looked busy and popular.
