Peaks Hotel & Suites

We spent four nights in the Grand Summit Suite, which was spacious and had a lovely terrace with four Adirondack chairs and a small firepit. The hotel was super clean, quiet at night, and in a great location where we could walk everywhere. Check-in was easy, the front desk staff were very friendly, and room service was prompt. The rooms were updated and modern, with plenty of towels, bathroom amenities, and bathrobes. It felt more like a four-star hotel, and we thought it was great value. Wish we could have stayed longer.

The bed was comfortable, the location was very central, and the underground parking was heated. The room's interior was lovely, but it faced the alley and was very dark. Sound insulation was poor, so I could hear trucks, people, cars, and dogs. I also think reception should give guests more information about things like checkout time, pool access, and amenities. Everyone on staff whom I met was very nice and welcoming.

We were offered a Loft room upgrade at the last minute for a small fee, and I'm glad we took it. The extra space and kitchenette worked really well for our four nights, and the view was lovely. The rooms were clean, the beds were very comfortable, and the decor and view felt modern and beautiful. Being right downtown on Bear Street is a real plus when staying in Banff. We'd absolutely stay here again and recommend it. The parking garage was easy to get in and out of, though it would be tight for a huge SUV or full-size truck.

You can walk to anywhere in town from this location, but I didn't care for the rest of the stay. The electronic room key system was down at check-in, so I got a temporary key. The front desk staff seemed disinterested and surly, and my permanent key didn't arrive until someone knocked on my door at 8:30 in the evening. I need coffee early in the morning. The machine downstairs made horrible coffee, so I crossed the street to buy real coffee at the sister hotel's bar. The small underground garage was hard to enter, exit, and maneuver with a full-size vehicle, though it did have a self car wash station. The modern gray rooms felt cold and sterile. I won't be back.
