Auberge McGee's Inn

The homemade breakfast the next morning was delicious, and the room was cozy and spotless. The old house stayed warm and quiet, so we slept peacefully. We arrived late, but the hosts had given us clear instructions and settling in was easy. This historic home is full of character, and I loved all the details. I enjoyed every moment here and would happily come back.

Breakfast was a highlight, the crepes were the best I've ever had, and the omelette was really good too. Everyone was so friendly, and the service was fantastic. Our Victorian Room on the third floor was clean, cozy, and comfortable. The A/C worked surprisingly well in the summer heat, and we could set the temperature ourselves. The lovely, well-kept building is in a historic neighbourhood, within walking distance of many Ottawa sights. On-site parking for $10 was very convenient. We'd absolutely stay again.

The staff made a stressful arrival much easier. My flight was badly delayed, but they let me check in over the phone. My bag was delayed by a day, and they left me a note explaining how to get it from them. I hadn't stayed at an inn before because I assumed it wouldn't be good, but this place proved me wrong. The breakfast is homemade and freshly made, which I really appreciate. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat and recommend it.

We could walk to Parliament, the National Museum of Art, the cathedral, and Byward Market, and managed to visit them all in one day. The neighbourhood was quiet, with a grocery store just down the block. The owner and staff chatted with us and made us feel more welcome than anywhere else on our family road trip. They even kept our bags after checkout so we could explore without leaving them in the car. Our family bedroom had a cot for both kids, and access to the downstairs living room gave us plenty of space. Check-in was easy and on-site parking was invaluable. I was so glad we found this place.
