We liked the quiet location, away from the crowds, with a late-night gas station nearby that has A&W. The cafe and restaurant in the canoe hotel looked beautiful. The hot pool is across the street at the canoe hotel, so we had to go there for check-in, check-out, and pool access. It was worth it, though. The outdoor pool is beautiful and relaxing. The front desk staff were incredibly sweet and caring, and our room was clean and comfortable. The shower had great pressure and was tall enough that I didn’t have to bend down to wash my hair. As a coffee lover, I especially enjoyed the pour-over coffee. We heard chainsaws and saw controlled fires while they were clearing space. That wasn’t a problem for us, but keep it in mind if you want to sleep in. Personally, I liked leaving our room to the smell of a bonfire. We’ll definitely be back!

The room at the Dorothy was updated, clean, and quiet, and we loved the coffee bar. Troy checked us in and was an absolute delight after a day of travel, knowledgeable and friendly even late at night. We stayed two nights and loved having access to the hot pools at the Canoe and the Otter. Would absolutely recommend.

Our second-floor room had high ceilings, a balcony, and a view. The free bus pass made getting around easy, though you can also walk from the town centre. The coffee and tea selection was nice, and the Rocky Mountain Soap products were a plus. The hot pools across the street at the Canoe exceeded expectations and shouldn’t be missed. The air conditioner was noisy, so I turned it off. I’d definitely stay at the Dorothy Motel again.

At first, the building looks like a fancy hotel, but it really isn’t. After walking all the way around, I realized there’s no front desk there. You have to cross the street to another hotel to check in, check out, and use the pool. The heater, AC, and fans were extremely noisy and couldn’t be turned off, so there was no way to enjoy a night without heat in -10 degree winter weather. I barely slept. Housekeeping didn’t make the bed, wipe the wash basin or coffee desk, or clean the used cups. They left the “luxury personalized tea bag” and our pillows on the floor.

This was a pleasant surprise: clearly an old motel that’s been renovated into a modern, clean, chic place to stay. It was quiet, and guests can use all the amenities at the Canoe hotel. The Canoe staff handle check-in and provide whatever speciality teas and coffees you want each day. I’d definitely stay here again.
