Holiday Inn Hotel & Conference Centre

The front desk was polite and found us a different room when ours wasn’t ready at 5. But the whole hotel needs a thorough cleaning. Our room and bathroom were dirty, and the furniture was stained. The air freshener smell was awful, so this place isn’t a good fit if you’re sensitive to scents. I wouldn’t stay here again.

Our hockey team had a really good time here. The boys enjoyed themselves, and the staff treated the group well. Our room was ready before the 3 pm check-in, which was great. The hotel was super clean, and breakfast was hot with lots of choices. We’ve stayed at a lot of hotels, and for one that includes breakfast, this one tops the rest. The staff were friendly too.

We checked in with our hockey team for two nights, but left after an hour and got no refund. They refused to return our $400, even though we didn’t stay. At that point, the cost wasn’t worth risking our health. I can’t believe this place is open. The pool water was green and wasn’t circulating through the skimmer because it sat below it. The hot tub was broken and closed off. The pool door safety had been cut, so it didn’t need a key card and a child could just walk in. Around the hotel, lobby benches were taped up, the front door was broken and taped off, and hallway ceiling tiles were caving in from water damage. The rooms were filthy. Carpets hadn’t even been vacuumed, a chair had something spilled on it, the toilet seat was dirty, and the shower had mold and rust. The beds were poor quality, and dust covered everything throughout the hotel. I was worried about staying there. When I complained at the front desk, I could draw in the dust on the counter to show the attendant just how dirty it was. There wasn’t really a response.

The breakfast was the one good part. The hotel felt badly maintained, and the $400 for two nights seemed especially awful, with prices clearly raised for the hockey tournament. Wallpaper was peeling, rugs were frayed, and the pool didn’t work after the door suddenly fell off and they shut it. The front desk didn’t have basic things I asked for, and the sofa beds were really thin. There was a leak you could hear somewhere around the toilet, plus dirty tub residue and air vents packed with what looked like years of dust. The heat and AC switched on and off so loudly they’d wake you up.
