The stair lights outside were fused, so at night you couldn't see anything, and moths kept flying into the room. Of the four rooms we booked, three had clogged tubs and none of the lights worked. We asked them to fix things, and they said someone would come in five minutes, even though we were about to head out. Nobody showed up. The soap in the only working shower was barely enough and ran out on the first day. I've never given a one-star review before, but this was the only place available. I wouldn't recommend the motel to anyone. I'd rather spend another 100 and be treated like an actual human. The savings aren't worth the hassle.
The new fridge worked great, and having a separate freezer was handy. I stayed one night. It was comfortable and pretty clean, and quiet apart from the trains, which I like.
With the air conditioner not working properly, the room got uncomfortable in 30-degree weather. The fridge and other appliances were putting out heat too, so we opened a window on the ground floor to cool things down. Then we discovered the windows had no locks, which felt like a security issue, and opening the curtains and window left us short on privacy. We had to shut the windows an hour later because someone was smoking cigarettes. We could also hear the people and toddler upstairs walking and running around. The building is so poorly constructed that it sounded like elephants above us. Bring earplugs if you decide to stay. The room was old and dated, and the AC problem was probably a coolant issue.
I just checked in for one night. The room isn't very clean, and both fridges are broken. There are two of them, but the older one is absolutely filthy inside, and both had old food left in them. When I asked for ice because neither fridge worked, she handed me a baggie with six cubes.
The place looked more like a scrapyard than a campground. We camped here after hearing it was the only campground in Barriere. Management took our money, then said we couldn't use a toilet or get any water, even though several motel rooms were free. Some staff took pity on us and let us into a room for water and the toilet, against their nasty boss's wishes. Avoid!
