Silverwood Inn

Randy was helpful, but the price was way too high for what we got. The hotel felt old and worn out, the sheets were stained, there was a bad musty smell, and we saw small rodents in the rooms.

The room felt run down, with cheap patch jobs, and the beds were uncomfortable. Every bang carried through the place. I was worried about possible bed bugs, so I slept on top of the covers. We left as soon as we got up the next morning. The outside was dated too, with garbage scattered around the property. Inside, things looked just as old and disorganized. We were told this was the “cleanest” room available, and at first management couldn’t find our room key. For $200 a night, it really wasn’t worth it. We were only stopping for one night on the way home, and I’d suggest driving the extra 45 minutes to find a nice hotel in the city.

I didn’t stay overnight, but stopping in on Sunday for a jiggs dinner was a great choice. You can pick turkey or roast beef, and I found it well worth the price. There was a huge helping of everything on the plate, it all tasted delicious, and I left full and very satisfied.

We spent three days here during a really difficult time, and it came to feel like home. My mom was unwell from the stress of traveling. The owners helped me get her settled in the room, then went out of their way to bring her tea and toast to settle her stomach. Even the bread was homemade. We felt looked after, and the rooms were comfortable to return to after each hard day. I’m planning to stay at Silverwood again this summer. I can’t say enough good things about the place.
