Great Divide Lodge

A lovely rustic little lodge. The rooms are small but comfortable, and the beds are soft. The staff are all lovely and very helpful, and they’re what really makes the place. There’s free coffee, tea, and breakfast, plus a billiards table. The bar stays open as long as you want to drink. I’d definitely stay again.

We stayed at wapta lodge, facing wapta lake, and the view was beautiful. You can also see the top of mount Victoria. The lake O'Hara shuttle parking lot is just a couple of minutes away, and the lodge is quite close to lake Louise. They also run a shuttle from the lodge to lake Louise gondola, which is a bonus. The food was decent. A little more attention to cleanliness would be ideal, but overall it was very nice.

GDL is closed to the public and serves as accommodation for LLSR employees. GDL employees have a shuttle, but it is strictly inaccessible to the public. Hikers park here for Wapta Traverse trail expecting a ride, then are disappointed when we, the LLSR staff, tell them there is no “public” transportation from here.

Awesome red Thai curry for $15! Breakfast was included, which we hadn’t expected, and there was a fridge in the room. For a three star hotel, it was reasonably good. It’s old but clean, and most staff were extremely friendly and helpful. You can vaguely hear the generator outside. The bathroom had a bit of a pong, and the extractor fan didn’t seem to work.
