Admiral Inn Burlington

I’ve been coming here for work at least once a week for three years, and Anna, Rita, and the rest of the staff have always treated me courteously. The rooms stay clean, and the continental breakfast is good. The price is consistently competitive, so I don’t need to shop around. Five stars.

The location made getting around easy, close to the highway but still quiet enough to relax. I also appreciated the complimentary parking and the other thoughtful touches. Breakfast had lots of fresh, tasty choices, and my room was spacious, spotless, and had what I needed. The bed was really cozy, too. From check-in onward, the staff were welcoming and attentive. Admiral Inn Burlington exceeded my expectations, and I’d gladly return and recommend it for either work or leisure.

We had serious problems with the room and the way our group was handled. The elevator didn’t work, the lights in my room were burned out, and the toilet was plugged. I called, but nobody came; eventually whatever was blocking it seemed to soften and go down. Even though the room was non-smoking, it had a faint cigarette smell. The beds were labeled Queen, but they definitely weren’t. In another room, condom wrappers were left open in several places. Condoms were also sold in the vending machine, and men came and went in the evenings and at night for hour-long visits or less. It was pretty obvious there was some kind of sexual arrangement in rooms upstairs. Watching from the lobby was eye-opening. The hotel had offered our group the meeting room at no charge. We offered to pay, but at the last minute they changed their mind and said we could use it the next day instead. We needed it then, so we had to find another place for 40 people at the last minute. When we asked for clean sheets for the room with the wrappers, we were told no. Breakfast was mixed. The eggs were green and gray on the first day, though they were okay the next. Portions were small, items were often being refilled, and some were cut in half. You can’t take breakfast out of the room, so you have to be willing to sit and eat there, which I’ve never run into before. On Day 3, there was a heavy police presence, and a man was arrested in his room and taken away in a cruiser. The location was convenient, but the place had a strange feel. There was a strong chemical odor in the lobby, especially in the stairwell, and the rooms smelled heavily of cigarette smoke and mustiness. Our room felt dated. The toilet wasn’t very clean, and the floor was so slippery when we arrived it felt like there might be soap on it. Staff were okay, nothing special, and breakfast was nothing special either.
