Hyatt Place Vancouver/Metrotown

The SkyTrain stop is right outside, and Metrotown Mall is across from it, so getting around Burnaby, Vancouver, Surrey, and nearby areas was easy. I spent about three days at the Hyatt Vancouver Metrotown, which had only been open three days when I arrived. A few little things were still being sorted out, but the staff were friendly, helpful, and professional throughout. It’s a clean, modern building of about 10 floors and roughly 120 rooms mixed with condos, so it feels more like a small hotel than a huge tower. There’s also a reasonably sized restaurant on site. I loved the blackout blinds: they made the room nearly pitch dark, and separate daytime blinds let in natural light. The room was clean and comfortable, though small. With the sofa bed in use as well as the main bed, there wasn’t much room to move around. Driving here was less convenient. Street parking was almost impossible to find, so I used the hotel parking at about $27 a night. There’s no proper spot out front to unload bags or make a quick drop-off, either. The ironing board was tiny, and the iron felt cheap and leaked water. Even with those issues, I had a great stay and would come back. Great service, a very convenient location, and a clean new hotel. 5/5.

The location made it easy to get around Vancouver, and the staff were welcoming and professional. I had a great stay at Hyatt Regency Vancouver, with beautiful rooms and excellent service. One of the best hotels I’ve stayed at.

Our bathroom was bright and clean, especially around the mirror, which I really appreciated. The room itself was new and tidy, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We were high enough that we didn’t hear the Metro across the street, and it was only about a three-minute walk away. The mall is nearby too, along with a couple of coffee shops and a bakery within five minutes. Getting to downtown Vancouver or places like Gastown took a bit more time. We had to ride the train to Waterfront on several days, then walk or transfer to other lines to see the sights.

We rented a car, so the parking garage came in handy. The hotel is close to both a mall and the train, and breakfast was decent.
