Alt Hotel Calgary University District

We chose this hotel for a two-night business stay and would happily come back. The location worked well, with plenty of restaurants nearby, and the meeting space had a lovely view. Staff there were helpful and friendly, just like the welcoming, professional team throughout the hotel. Our room was clean, quiet, and smelled great. Secure underground parking was another plus.

We were in town for a show and wanted somewhere close enough to walk, so we gave The Alt a try. The room was modern and nice for the price, though it could use a small fridge. Check-in was efficient, and the front desk also got our underground parking set up.

The location was great and the staff were friendly, but I'm not sure I'd stay again. Parking at $20 a day felt overpriced, the spaces were extremely narrow, and larger vehicles often took up two spots, which was frustrating. Inside the room, the handle took a lot of pressure to turn, and the elevator chime could be heard even down the hall. The bathroom was another problem. Light from behind the translucent shower wall shines right onto the bed if someone uses the bathroom in the middle of the night. The door creaked when closing, and the shower pressure was very low. We also thought there would be a fridge because the photos showed one, but we were later told we had to request it. Some of our food went bad as a result.

I'm writing for my Mom, who is staying here because of an unfortunate medical emergency in our family. What the staff and management have done to welcome and accommodate her, including thoughtful touches that have brought a smile during a hard time, means a lot. The room is clean, comfortable, and modern. Rates are very fair, and the location is handy for walking to shops and restaurants. Thank you so much, Alt Hotel University District.
