Breakfast was poor for the price. The only hot options were waffles and egg bites, with cereal, yogurt, muffins, and the like for the rest. The curtains also didn’t cover the windows enough to keep out the light, and the air unit rattled with uneven airflow. The fridge made a loud hum when it switched on. We stayed Feb 14/26 in room 210. The room was clean, the bed was okay, and staff were nice, but there was no soundproofing at all. You could hear doors slam and people walking or talking in the hall, outside, and in rooms above or below, even bathroom noise. If you want to actually sleep, I’d choose a Holiday Inn or somewhere else for this price.

On our earlier visit in October, the stay was great. The rooms were clean and nice, and breakfast had lots to choose from. We travel to Calgary every weekend, and this hotel was convenient for where I needed to be. After our most recent stay, though, I’ll look elsewhere. The key cards failed every time we left, so we had to return to the front desk repeatedly to get into our room. Then, starting at midnight, the person next door tried to kick in the adjoining door. I called the desk and was told someone would come speak with the guest, but the noise continued: running in the hall, what sounded like furniture being thrown, yelling, banging, screaming in a demonic voice, and more kicking at our door. At 4am I called again and was told police would be called. At 5am my boyfriend went down to report it again. Police eventually arrived and, after convincing the lone patron to let them in, removed her. It was terrifying. We didn’t know if she had weapons or could kick our door in. The desk never asked whether we were okay or showed concern for our safety. We got no sleep and the hotel never offered compensation.

We had to find a room at the last minute because of a family emergency. The room was spacious and clean, and breakfast was good. It was me, my sister, my mother, and our dog, and we had paid the pet fee. We were settled in watching TV at a very low volume, around 10, while Mom slept. When we stepped out briefly to smoke, the overnight staff member angrily confronted us. She accused us of making too much noise, said we hadn’t paid the pet fee, and claimed she could hear our TV while doing her “nightly strolls” in the hall. It felt invasive and unprofessional, and it was unnecessary given how quiet we were. The hotel itself was comfortable, but the rude, stressful treatment made an already difficult time worse.

The television channels mostly worked, which was about the only plus. The room was dirty, cords were scattered around, and the soap and in-room products had expired in 2011. If you stayed more than one day, rooms weren’t cleaned. At the front desk, staff had personal calls on speaker and seemed annoyed when you asked a question. The breakfast seemed to have been prepared weeks ago, so maybe avoid the supposedly fresh food. It’s the lowest tier of hotel, and you’re not paying for a 2-star place. It barely clears one star.
