Anchor Inn & Suites, BW Signature Collection

The view from the restaurant was amazing, and we had an excellent dinner there one night, both the service and food. Breakfast was fine, and the staff were very friendly. We were impressed with how clean and updated our pet room was, and the hotel is in a great location. The heat in our room didn’t work. We told the front desk, and they offered us another room, but we chose to stay put. There also aren’t many places for dogs to pee, just one small grassy spot that was sort of overgrown with blackberry bushes. All in all, good value for our two-day stay, and I’d recommend it.

We had a nice two-day vacation, and the view from our room was awesome. The huge patio was a great extension of the room, and the dogs loved going out there. The beds and pillows were comfortable, and everything was very clean. I expected a suite, but it was really just two rooms with beds and no couch. The complimentary breakfast was cold: scrambled eggs, hash browns, pancakes, and cereal. It would have been acceptable if it had at least been warm. On day two, we ordered from the menu and the food was good. The older lady who waited on us was efficient, friendly, and accommodating.

Our staff Christmas lunch at the Anchor Inn was fantastic. The team welcomed us right away, and the space was set up beautifully and felt festive. The food was a highlight, everyone was talking about how delicious it was. The service stood out too; the staff went above and beyond and made our team feel appreciated and celebrated. We left happy and full, and were already talking about coming back next year. I’d highly recommend the Anchor Inn for a staff gathering, holiday event, or simply a great meal with excellent service.

The calamari was melt-in-your-mouth good, and the wings were great. The food was a bright spot, but the continental breakfast left a lot to be desired. No meat? That’s odd for a hot breakfast; adding sausage wouldn’t hurt the bottom line. We’d looked forward to the hot tub, and were really disappointed to find there wasn’t one. There was no pool either, despite the ocean view, breakfast, and hot tub being part of what we thought we’d found when we searched. The place was under construction or renovations, and nobody mentioned it when we booked. Two thirds of the rooms on our floor were being worked on, with noise starting at 7 am. The bathroom light fixture was just hanging there strangely instead of being installed, and the closet didn’t open fully. The layout was weird: seven floors, but the elevator only goes to four, and finding the lounge was an adventure, haha. I’d give zero stars because we’d been so excited for the hot tub. I don’t recommend it. This was our first stay in Campbell River, and we’re planning monthly visits, so we’ll review each place. Fingers crossed we find a good one; if you know one we should check out, let us know!
