Painter's Lodge

The food was cooked perfectly, and the buffet was far better than I expected. Our party was large, but the service was friendly and kind, and the staff were there with whatever we needed. Everyone I met, from the renovation crew and cleaning staff to the catering team, was lovely. The rooms were huge, rustic, and beautiful. It’s a great spot to enjoy the scenery and the small-town kindness that makes Vancouver island special.

We had a really good lunch in the pub, especially the Cajun chicken tacos. Our top-floor room had a big deck and wide ocean views, and the staff were helpful, attentive, and very friendly. Loved seeing what they’ve done with this beautiful piece of history. Looking forward to another visit!😍

The room was the one letdown. We booked an ocean-view room and had some view, but expected it to match the photos, including the vaulted ceiling and waterfront setting. It didn’t. I asked the staff, but those rooms were already taken; they suggested making the request clearly next time, so be specific about what you expect when booking. There’s a nice landscaped setting, and it’s a short drive into town for some excellent restaurants. Elk Falls is nearby too, with just a short hike in. The lobby has lovely art, amazing views, a cozy stone fireplace, and board games. The convenient restaurant has a pool table and dart boards. There’s an exercise room and laundry in separate buildings. The pool looked nice but wasn’t open when we visited in February. The staff were wonderful and professional.

We stayed four nights in a spacious, clean, comfortable oceanfront room while exploring the area. We know the rooms are being renovated, and we’re excited to come back and see the updates. The food and service at Painters Bar & Grill were excellent.
