Town Centre Inn

The rooms are only about 30 feet from the traffic lanes, right by one of Campbell River’s busiest red-light intersections. The rooms weren’t clean, and the beds were terrible. I wouldn’t choose this place under any circumstances. At check-in, I gave my credit card details and specifically agreed with them that I’d pay one night at a time. After staying one night, I told them at 9 a.m. that I was checking out, then checked out at 11. I asked for the receipt from check-in, but the staff member said she’d already given it to me, which she hadn’t, so I had to take a photocopy. Later that day, they charged my card for an extra night, saying I hadn’t canceled a reservation. That’s credit card fraud! I’d give zero stars if I could.

We loved the huge dog area, a mostly grassy space about the size of a city lot and fully fenced. The rooms look a little tired, but they’re clean and affordable, and the staff are friendly and helpful. We accidentally left a USB flash drive in the TV. When we came back about a week later, they’d already found it and returned it to us. The location is central, and this is now our favorite place to stay when visiting. Highly recommend it if you have a dog.

It was fine, though a bit dated. There’s no air conditioning, so keep that in mind on hot summer nights. That’s relatively uncommon here because the water is so close. It’s around $100 a night. For $150, you get a massive step up in quality, but I guess it depends how much the money matters to you and how long you’ll spend in your room.

We were in Powell River for a hockey tournament, and the hotel we’d originally booked turned out to be somewhere we really shouldn’t have stayed. Everywhere else in Powell River was full, so I went to the Town Centre Inn desk to ask if they had anything. The manager and front desk woman went out of their way to arrange two rooms, one for my family and one for my friends’ family. They made room for all of us, and we had a lovely stay. Five-star service, and I’d absolutely recommend them. Thank you, Town Centre Inn.
