Camrose Resort Casino, BW Premier Collection

The rooms seemed clean, and the continental breakfast was standard. But I wouldn't stay here if getting a good night's sleep matters to you. The mattress had a huge sag, the sheets felt like 80-grit sandpaper, and the pillows were like sacks of hammers. The overall comfort reminded me of a Turkish prison. We booked as a hockey team, and it seemed the hotel didn't like having teams. They had a separate set of strict rules for us, including no visitors in our rooms and plenty of other restrictions. I understand wanting to protect guests from unruly teams, but this was absurd. Their service motto might as well be, "We're not happy until you're unhappy."

A couple of hours before I was due to check out, the pool and hot tub opened again after being closed for a year and a half, I was told. That was great. I needed to swim some laps after all the overindulging during my Camrose visit! The casino was a fun time. It's a little small, but had everything I wanted, and the free coffee and ice-cold lemon water were much appreciated. I was there for a couple of days and had an excellent stay. Front desk staff were friendly, helpful and happy to accommodate a couple of changes to my plans. My room was clean and quiet. Rosie's, the onsite restaurant, was nicely laid out and had tasty food, and I really enjoyed the breakfast buffet with its good range of options. Thanks for everything, CRH & Casino. I plan to return!

The rooms were comfortable and it's a nice place. Check-in and parking are a bit awkward, though. The desk is a long walk from the main entrance, and even farther if you park in the designated area. Once you've checked in, you can use the side door, which makes getting in easier.

The service was excellent and there are lots of amenities. I didn't stay long enough to try them all, but I'd consider coming back to do that.
