Fire Mountain Lodge

The covered parking setup is a real problem. There’s no guaranteed space, and the stalls make it hard to park and open your doors. People end up off-centre, which leaves even less room for the next car. If you can’t find a stall, you’re left searching for street parking and walking back. We drove into town each time because the walk was long, though doable. The building is old and shoddy, and the “gym” barely qualifies. It smelled so bad that I didn’t want to use it. The small outdoor hot tub has no view, unless you count the balcony directly above it. This felt like a roadside motel, only more expensive. My unit had been updated, so it looked better than the building, but the work was cheap and poorly done. The price is far too high for a place this run-down without reliable parking. I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it.

The unit was great, and it’s always nice to get away from the city. The rooms are dark and comfortable, and the kitchens are fully equipped. We rented here for six months, but I think the hot tub was open maybe once during that whole time. Keeping it closed for maintenance for six months is a stretch. At this point, I’m thinking it isn’t coming back and they just don’t offer a hot tub anymore. If having one doesn’t matter to you, this is a nice place.

The rooms are nice and big, and the appliances are new and in good condition. The washer and dryer were really helpful. We enjoyed the amazing mountain views from the second-floor balcony. Parking was provided, but the spaces are very tight and would be a problem for anything bigger than a compact car. Luckily, there was plenty of street parking nearby. It’s a great location.

The main room is spacious, and the main bathroom is large. The two other rooms are just big enough for the double beds. Our room showed little sign of wear, and the accommodations were very nice overall. The kitchen was well equipped. I just wish we’d been given a bit more information at check-in. There’s no desk, as everything is handled by email.
