Pocaterra Inn & Waterslide

Breakfast was a real highlight on both mornings, and the staff were plentiful, friendly, and helpful. We had a roomy, clean room with a lovely mountain view from the balcony, and a few fast food places were within walking distance. The hotel is dated, though it looks like updates are underway. The elevator was painfully slow. My main concern was the pool: the water looked cloudy and had an oily film on top. With so many people using the pool and hot tub every day, it needs daily maintenance.

The rooms were spotless, housekeeping was kind and accommodating, and the pool was clean and enjoyable. The location was convenient, and despite a couple of problems, I’d stay here again. At check-in, the front desk employee came across as unhelpful, which started things off badly. Later, at 1 a.m., every coach was called because children were roaming the halls, though none were ours. I found the calls disruptive. I understand staff not wanting to parent other people’s kids, but walking them back to their rooms would have been more useful.

The crowded pool was a hit with the kids, and our rooms were clean with a good breakfast. We were here for an extended family getaway. There was also a strong smell, like furnace fuel or something, so I had to sleep with the window open. Before bed I called the desk to ask if the Olympic gold medal hockey game would be on during breakfast. The woman who answered was rude, said “absolutely not!” and cut me off. It was on the TV when I came down in the morning, so I don’t know why she answered me that way.

The rooms have plenty of space and a charming old-hotel feel, and everything is conveniently close by. We really enjoyed the warm, clean water in the pool and jacuzzi, both were so relaxing. The friendly, helpful staff and evening cookies for guests were lovely touches. Breakfast tasted good, with a modest selection but enough to get the day started. Great stay! 🩵
