Hotel Carmacks

There’s a riverside path just behind the building, and the general store out front has some souvenirs. The room was quiet and clean, with a layout I liked. The coffee maker and microwave had their own little spot, which sounds odd, lol. Parking was easy, and there was decent food at the attached pub. Check-in was a bit confusing until I saw the sign pointing to the pub, but it was quick after that. I think it’s the only hotel in Carmacks, and it’s a solid option with what you need for an overnight. I’d stay again.

We were in town for work, heading up a mining road to meet a crew about a placer gold claim after picking up two pizzas down the street. Since we arrived early, our room wasn’t ready yet. The desk guy noted our room number and door code, and said the bartender next door could let us into the hotel if we got back late. We did get back very late, and the bartender already knew about us. The hotel had switched us to another room with a new code, and the bartender had it sorted. They’d also sent a voicemail and email, but we’d been out of service and didn’t know until we returned. It all worked out great. The room was perfect, and we’ll stay here again on our trips north.

We arrived really late without a booking, and they were accommodating. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. I was glad they had space, since there’s very little else available around Carmacks at this time of year. Had a great stay.

The staff at the front desk went out of their way to help us get what we needed. We stayed in one of the small cabins behind the main hotel, and ours was simple, comfortable, and quiet. The Yukon River is close by, so it’s nice for an evening or morning walk.
